john stevens and dick heckstall-smith. unconvention 1993.

hi. i am back again but still (re)convalescenting. without any competition i will be broadcasting as slow as possible. : nothing: is there (for us) to share: but yesterday: please stay tuned...

most of you will of course be familiar with the work of john stevens, the iconocatalyst of free european improvisation. if not or to find more information (including discographical details on more than 70 physical pages) please visit the home of european free improvisation and find yourself awestruck. dick heckstall-smith is best known for his rather conventional work with colosseum and (a must to avoid!) colosseum 2, though, but playing with alexis korner, graham bond, jack bruce and john mayall in most cases created some at least interesting if not surmounting conventional interesterritoring rhizomatic bypasses. an unanticipated meeting of these two protagonists thus should and must have been rather interesting and indeed it was.

the german label konnex/dossier/atonal spent and spoiled much of the early nineties (and most of their money) feeding the blissfully ignorant with giftgas from very early throbbing gristle, and/or chrome, and/or controlled bleeding, and/or elliot sharp, and/or tony oxley, and/or uwe walter, and/or the persons, and/or petr kotik, and/or (j.[?]greinke), and/or allan holdsworth, and/or evan parker, and/or ian carr, and/or julie tippetts, and/or and/or and/or and/or and/or and/or and/or and/or. some of these records are still available through their mailorder /mail order), but(z) most of them are not, including this here one, of course.
