more than two and a half hours of ultrarare german kraut from 1969 and way beyond: amon düül 2: the phallus dei files

phallus dei of course is the dark star hidden in the amon düül 2 gesamtkunstwerk. and though the epic track on their homonymously named 1969 album is commonly known, there is much more to say. for your listening pleasure i compiled two cds worth of live versions, mixes and related euphemera i found in my collection that you might not be aware of. take care of your favourite drug and listen or download or die.

in the download file way down below you will find two folders, both filled with some 70 minutes of music ready to be burned as roms plus some scans and photos. the very short intros and interludes by the way are some sketches i produced along the way.

so here we go-go:

the green folder:

01 - intro (01:00) (listen directly)
02 - jam into phallus dei (38:24) (munich 1969 / location unknown)
03 - interplay (01:00)
04 - phallus dei (09:29) remix from the compilation once upon a time (listen directly)
05 - intermission (01:04)
06 - amon düül 2 play (sic!) phallus dei (23:59) from the dvd amon düül 2 play (sic!) phallus dei

the orange folder:

01 - intro (01:00) (listen directly)
02 - phallus dei live 1969 (24:46) / blow up club / munich
03 - phallus dei (09:04) found on the compilation drei jahrzehnte (listen directly)
04 - intermission (00:58)
05 - phallus dei (20:49) remastered version from the 2006 release of phallus dei; some five seconds longer than any other official release
06 - interplay (01:04)
07 - touch my phal (10:17) bonustrack from the 2006 version of phallus dei on revisited records

amon düül 2 - an incoherent compilation of bonustracks, rare mixes and missing links

yes, there is a lot of amon-düül-related stuff in this=here blog, and here comes some more. for today i unearthed some 76 minutes of rare recordings by the german proto-post-punk-kraut legend amon düül 2 or amon düül II (and that is not amon dyn or amon düül 3 or amen dull or harm no doll or even amon düül, of course) for your listening pleasure. all of these tracks found their very own=obscure ways out of the düül-archives or were especially recorded by later line=ups of the band for the inclusion either on legal or semilegal or illegal re-releases of their classic albums or are remixes and rerecordings for the sake of some budget-compilations for the sake of it. strange stuff, indeed.

so here we go=go:

01 - jam hai (live in tokyo on the 12th of april 1996; remix for the compilation drei jahrzehnte)  (listen directly)
02 - freak out requiem #2 (taken from the 2000 rerelease of phallus dei on gammarock; probably recorded in 1969)
03 - cosmic insects (taken from the 2005 rerelease of almost alive) (listen directly)
04 - kitchen jam (taken from the 2005 rerelease of almost alive)
05 - goldrush (from the misscredited 2000 version of the utopia album) (listen directly)
06 - müller's frau - jam (found on the 2000 rerelease of wolf city)
07 - i want the sun to shine (taken from the 2006 release of phallus dei on revisited)
08 - touchmaphal (taken from the 2006 release of phallus dei on revisited)
09 - freak out requiem #1 (taken from the 2000 rerelease of phallus dei on gammarock) (listen directly)
10 - eistanz in timbuktu (from the 2005 rererelease of only human. reportedly originally released in 1978, but it was not)
11 - live in obergurgl (taken from the 2005 rerelease of almost alive) (listen directly)
12 - la paloma (unreleased mix from the 1997 compilation flawless) (listen directly)
13 - improvisation on a gulp sonata (taken from the 1998 rerelease of live in london; recorded somewhere in bavaria 1972)
14 -  cymbals in the end (taken from the 2000 rerelease of phallus dei on gammarock)

and that's it for now.

eclectrionic renosovolution: a 1982 dissassemblage featuring can, hitler, john cale, the sugarhill gang, arthur brown, pere ubu and a lot of anonymious stiffstoffstaff plus some can and amon düül

this is a veryvery strange tape i found in the black holes of my collection: in 1982 the munich=based free and self=elected discordian pope molto menz sent out some blank tapes to aleatoric=chosen people asking them to record whatever they wanted and to send it back to him to be used and played isochronical with other tapes during a performance on the 30th of july 1982 in munich to create the effect william s. burroughs described in electronic revolution as the ultimate release of the most dangerous virus from outer of space. if this ever ever happened is beyond my memory, but some time later molto gave me this tape to take care of it in any way i wanted to.

the author or editor of this tape unfortunately decided to remain coumpletely anonymous, he or she or it just send back the unlabelled tape with some noise on it: side one is a 35-minute-collage of found and selected sounds by the likes of pere ubu, john cale, the sugarhill gang, joseph goebbels, arthur brown and a lot of sounds that for a moment you might be sure you know by heart but can not tell who it is for the whole offit. following seamlessly is side two of the tape starting with some 30 minutes of can that sound like they are some bootleg=demo=recordings but most probably they are not, followed by some ten minutes of amon düül 2 with an obscure live=recording of archangel's thunderbyrd and an impromptu=jam and closing upallout with some minutes of amon düül that you all know but you can never hear too much amon düül, can you?

you are supposed to listen to all of this stuff in one sittingandseting; there is no rar-file with separated tracks et cetera. if you really want to save this noise to your hard drive please be sure to save the pictures as well. this post and the music in=here is an impertinent imposition, and i love it.

the late amon düül 2 live in tübingen 2002 with broken strings and broken arrows

a friend of mine provided me with these two cd-r of a concert of the late amon düül 2 he recorded way back on the first of june 2002 at the sudhaus in tübingen, the southwestgerman kapitol of southwestgerman kassettentäter and other boring students. most probably most of the noise on the following two cd-r is provided by chris karrer on guitars, violins and guitars, renate knaup on vocals, lothar meid on bass, john weinzierl on guitars ans daniel fichelscher on drums.

the recording is rather (s)cratchy and chaotic, featuring broken strings, renate in garrulously minds and a vaginervose band unwilling to be cool and ready to jam-away and a mini-disc-recorder refusing to record long tracks as long tracks. so all in all it's the layed amon düül 2 at their very worst and that's their very best. here is no fun!

so let us start with cd #1:

01 - renate talking about schöne menschen
02 - don'turn too stone???
03 - la paloma (listen directly)
04 - jam
05 - mikrofonständer (listen directly)
06 - apocalyptic bore
07 - riding on a cloud
08 - allthe ye
09 - all the years round
10 - lightning sky????
11 - (die blume vom orient)?
12 - oh; rien
13 - metropolice (listen directly)
14 - fragment
15 - fragment of kanaan (listen directly)

(mp3 / all scans included / direct download)

and here we go for disc #2:

01 - kanaan (listen directly)
02 - renate talks with renate
03 - surrounded by the stars (listen directly)
04 - applause
05 - chatter
06 - improvisation
07 - archangel's thunderbyrd (listen directly)
08 - applause
09 - renate again
10 - luzifers ghilom et cetera (listen directly)
11 - banterchat
12 - deutsch nepal

some rare plastic crap found in the surrounding peripherals of amon düül 2: ronnie jones, olaf kübler, and a radioplay vilifying drugs

yesyesyes, not seven, not eighteen, not faultytwo, and not even one hundred 7inchers i found in my record collection, but allandallandall exacktly four of them, and all four of them are part of the history of the great great great amon düül 2; though they are not as great as amon düül; burt annieway. and if you love them all, there is a bonus track section opening wayway down belowed.
#########################################################################

früst of all we got ronnie jones, an american soul singer, who got cought in 1974 by some of the realunreal musicians and producers of the amon düül 2 posse in munich and was got forced to do some recordings with jürgen s. korduletsch, jörg evers, lothar meid and other düülisticunts. they wrote the song "the city" for him, played all the music, produced and released it, and gnarshingly accepted "rock your baby" as the b-side. so here we go:

(listen with leftclick, save as with rightclick; and don't forget to save the pictures as well)

########################################################

sircombed of them all cums olaf kübler with two singles he recorded in the mid eighties for some/one reasum or any other. först of these, and thatsecond of them all, is the awkwarkward reading of "simsalabim", the german version of the italo-plastic "stop bajon": you'll get the german rap version, and the 7inch-instrumental-dance version, if you don't mind:

(listen with leftclick, save as with rightclick; and don't forget to save the pictures as well)

#############################################################################

andend second of these kübler-7"es and thrud of them hear-here-all is mister kübler's disco-version of the well known amon düül 2 and utopia tune "deutsch nepal", backed with mister kübler's disco-version of the well known amon düül 2 and utopia tune "deutsch nepal".

(listen with leftclick, save as with rightclick; and don't forget to save the pictures as well)

#####################################################################

endass the fource off themall we got a german radioplay published on a 7inch by nourthrheyneworstphallian ministery for underemploymints, mintal health and social mediums sometime way back in the seventies: "probieren heisst bedrogen sein" meanduring somethink like "trying drugs is like being betrayered by drugs", featuring some smithereens of archangel's thunderbyrd by amon düül 2 in and out of the mix.

federal drugs featuring amon düül 2
(listen with leftclick, save as with rightclick; and don't forget to save the pictures as well)

###############################################################

and if you scrolled close enough and are stilling-willing to get some more you have reached noumless or vorelance the bonus track appartemint of this post: we got a completely different version of deutsch nepal for you, recorded by amon düül 2 with the german actor rolf zacher in 1992 that can be found on the crumbilation "united states of germany", and an exclusive song that amon düül 2 contraributed in 2009 to a coumpilation prayink hournages to peter weibel as a junk dog.

so listen to

the greetings compact vol. 2 / released in italy in 1994 / exclusive tracks by wim mertens, beau geste, peter principle, the durutti column, novalia, the legendary pink dots, blaine l. reininger, nazca.chris karrer.glen sweeney, bel canto, cudu.steven brown.ivan georgiev and diamanda galas

the greetings compilation series was an accompanying coumpaigning comepainion to a series of art and noise and hippie shit festivals in italy in the early nineties of the last century of the 20th millenium. all featured tracks have been exclusive contributions by the time the compilations were released, some tracks might be re-issued on more recent releases by some of the artists involved. annie waygh.
i bought this-here volume two of the compilation series in 1994 to add it to my amon düül collection, i.e. i spent about 20 euro for some seconds of chris karrer doing what he does best. and as far as i know this track with nazca and glen sweeney still is not available anywhere else. and the painthearted collector of the sounds of the kassettentäter will rediscover a lot of sounds and connotations.
so please enjoy what i dug out in the deepdeep wholes of my collection way down deeder and down and that's it for now.
