kraut! demons! kraut! bootleggering the bootleggered bootleggers! these three kraut albums from the early seventies of the last century have been rererereleased quite a few times, sometimes semi-legal at least, but most often without any permission, and by the time being they all are rather hard to get obtained them by buy in for the matter or the wurst.

 

hairy chapter, missus beastly and night sun were wore ware rather bottomofthewellknown in germany back in these those days, my friend, but they did not create all this cultfollowing and all those cultfollowers that other cultflowering kraut bands can't get rid of until today. but they are alright und es eine schöne richtigkeit by all three of them heard and hurt as well als solche. here we go:

(recorded in 1974, this=here germanofon version of the record antedates other semi-official releases for quite a few years, and it contains three 1973 bonustracks that are not available on any other rerelease. and by the way: there are just ten tracks on the cd, no matter what the cover says: vacuum cleaners and dance are not two separated tracks as stated, in the following the running order is corrected)

enjoy a throbbing gristle with your pets and children: chris carter in the space between

and though this is the man from throbbing gristle (though not THE man nor the NOman nor the woMAN from throbbing gristle but at least the man married to the WOman of throbbing gristle) when this tape was released on industrial records in 1980 no=body seamed to rely=care aboutitt. it is beautiful and wonderbra and a real shock away from the shockshock of throbbing gristle.

 

 

in the meanmeantime and just because noboreday really cared or even bought the tape the original c-90 has become incredival rare; in 1991 chris carter revisited thee/hiss recordings to shrink them to fit on a 76-minute-cd to be released on the grey area, and ass nobbody again did not care alltoomuch even this rerelease got lost and expenisive in the process of growing old.

unfourtunalately you won't get to hear the recordings lost on the c-90 tape unless you sell your car, your house and your fistborne son you may at least listen to my copy of thee revisited version in this=hear=my=blog and you will download and enjoy it or die.

addendum et postscriptum:

as mentioned above chris carter revisited the 1980 c-90-tape in 1991 to remix, remodel and rename the original tracks; in this process he omitted at least two tracks to create a coumpletely new 76-minute-cd. only a few days after this=here post was published our fellow blogger rex sent me two tracks he found on his version of the tape, as you can read in the comments below. he named them track 01 (3:14) and track 03 (13:33), and confusingly they do not seem to fit into any of the tracklists i found on discogs, but anyway, they are a very welcome addition to the material found on the cd. thank you so much, rex.

amon düül 2 - an incoherent compilation of bonustracks, rare mixes and missing links

 

yes, there is a lot of amon-düül-related stuff in this=here blog, and here comes some more. for today i unearthed some 76 minutes of rare recordings by the german proto-post-punk-kraut legend amon düül 2 or amon düül II (and that is not amon dyn or amon düül 3 or amen dull or harm no doll or even amon düül, of course) for your listening pleasure. all of these tracks found their very own=obscure ways out of the düül-archives or were especially recorded by later line=ups of the band for the inclusion either on legal or semilegal or illegal re-releases of their classic albums or are remixes and rerecordings for the sake of some budget-compilations for the sake of it. strange stuff, indeed.

soundcultures raising a ruckus: 61 very different tracks found on the points of rupture and the connecting lines between art and music: germany 2000 and 2003

art and sound and so und art: the 2002 catalogue of the künstlerhaus (house of artists) in bremen documenting amongst many other things a cd with 38 tracks of raw material for the performance "krach schlagen" (raising a ruckus) by jeanne van heeswijk and assorted, associated and unanonymous bremen artists and f(r)iends that was executed in november and december 2000, and the 2003 book soundcultures compiling essays on minimal sounds, glitch art, mille plateaux and electronic(all) music accompaniced by a 3"-cd with 22 very short tracks.

though both the books and the artists are not connected in any way except for their longtallshortyness i thought it was a nice idea to have all those 60 tracks (and graftagedered by a 2003 example of my own work) on one cd to play the with shuffle and repeat. so this is what you get in the download-rar way down below: 61 very different very short tracks and a lot of scans and photos.

let's go-go:

in the year 2000 the dutch artist jeanne van heeswijk invited a whole lot of bremen artists and friends to contribute some very short noise to her performance "krach schlagen" (raising a ruckus). all those very different tracks (free jazz, hip hop, swing, pop etc) confronted the unprepared visitor simultaneously and at a veryvery high volume. an in-deep description of the performance can be found on jeanne's page. what you get here is the raw material sent in by the contributing artists, plus a way-too-short 4-minute-example of how it all came true (track 38). there is only very few additional information to be found on the artists involved, but at least i can tell you that mister volquartz mentioned in track 36 is indeed ove volquartz from the kraut legend annexus quam.

instant awareness, clicks and cuts, deterritorialization, alignment pacts and the sensibillyties of powerlessness: when suhrkamp collected these essays on about electronicould musick in 2003 they took no consideratation on in intelligibillyties in ernie way and that's the way these overinellectualized postkrautnerds sound like and that's a lot of fun. sometimes at least. some additional information on the artists involved can be found on discogs, but you won't get to heaven on the autobahn.

vengeance - the jesus and mary chain recorded live in 1985 and 1992

 

three different dates, three different venues, three very different audiences, and three different versions of the living end. the jesus and mary chain live in concert in 1992 and 1985.

for your listening pleasure these three performances of JAMC included on the cd vengeance released in italy in 1992 are not cut into little pieces but are left as three long pieces of nicenoise as they had been executed. you can listen directly with leftclick or download the tracks to your hard drive with rightklick; there is no rar-file, so you have to save the pictures if you want to keep them. you know how to. and by the way, there is some obscure material by JAMC to be found in this=here blog: get to hear them live in amsterdam 1985 including two versions of fuck, and listen to the mini-cd that was included in an italian book in 1992.

the cover says that the first seven tracks on this cd have been recorded live in new york in 1992 (most probably between the 20th and 25th of september), and this may be true or not. the same seven tracks have been published on the strange fruit live cd claimed as having been recorded in sheffield on the 28th of september 1992. and nobody knows if it really happened.

friedrich gulda live in 1986; playing chopin, singing artmann, interacting with limpe fuchs; plus some bonus tracks featuring paul fuchs and klaus weiss: chopin and beyond...

friedrich gulda was born in vienna on the 16th of may 1930 and died untimely on the 27th of january 2000. most of you will of course know that he was a stand-offishly taken in interpreter of classical piano music, but some of you might not be aware of his excavations and disruptions he despairingly added to his bourgeois background to elude the regnant concept of upper class culture. his closemouthed cracks and aimings at "jazz" in the late sixties of the last century and some heavy-handed outbursts into double quoted "free improvisation" always were shadowed by his beethoven squeezed and stockhausen press-ganged cultural and historical backgrounds.

there is almost no evidence on the worlwideweb to be found that this=here cd "chopin and beyond..." really does exist (discogs does not list it with gulda=himself or with the amadeo label, but amazon japan at least has a picture of this completely unavailable cd), but it does. it is a live recording of a concert friedrich gulda executed on the 13th of july 1986 in munich playing some chopin, singinging some some lyrics by h.c.artmann and interacting in free improvisation with limpe fuchs (some parts of this performance can be found on the arthouse dvd "chopin and beyond...", by the way). this is followed by some 25 minutes of anima sound with paul and limpe fuchs from 1973. for your listening pleasure i added some conventional free jazz gulda played in 1971 with klaus weiss on drums to cd 1 and some more anima from 1972 to cd 2; both tracks can be found on the 5-cd-set midlife harvest. to find out more about gulda's struggling attempt for free music you might want to read what i wrote in this=here blog some twelve years ago about his album "liberation" with ursula anders and günther rabl, and of course listen to it.
