this is what the german neue deutsche welle did to amon düül 2 in the late seventies and the early eighties: some mediocre songs and one little-tiny sensation that is absolutely sensational: olaf konfetti and asphaltnacht for your pleasure

olaf and lothar and john and any more and any one who was in amon düül 2 in the early seventies and wanted to stay anonymiously in the early eighties: here we go! it's not so funny on the hindsight: here are two of many ways the members of amon düül 2 tried to earn some money.
first on we got olaf konfetti which of course is olaf kübler, the saxophon player and technical advisor of amon düül 2 in the early seventies: he was a member of the tabarins, klaus doldinger's passport (almost every sunday you can hear him play saxophone on the title score of 'tatort' on german television) and utopia in these days; later on he was part of the german 'new wave' and disappeared in many of rare recordings: here is one of those, folded into one as one:

seondly we have got lothar meid, who has been playing bass with in some of the versions of amon düül 2 in the early seventies and was in many other bands (being part of the 'tatort' was only one of the many much more appearances he got) and he loved being there but not here. here you can hear him as a part of the band that soundtracked for the film 'asphaltnacht' in 1981: the title song is rather lame, but the b-side is quite a sensation: more wire than you could ever and even wire as you might have suspected what so ever!
