brian peter george st. john le baptiste de la salle eno aka brian eno aka eno: the ambivalent collection and some textures

for your pleasure here are two collections of far-flung and rather rare sounds that brian eno recorded and released between 1974 and 1994 on a wide variety of labels and for a lot of obscure purposes.

first of all: the ambivalent collection is a compilation of soundtrack recordings, one-off-7-inches and some in-studio experiments that was released in 1994. most of you will be quite familiar with some of the tracks, but unless you own this cd there always remains some uncertainty.

most of these recordings have been executed just by brian eno and his machines, but additionally featured are the likes of robert fripp, phil collins, pat palladin, judy nylon, daniel lanois, and even the baader-meinhof group. you can figure it all out in the liner notes.

so here we gogo:

01 - are they thinking of me? 5:34
02 - i fall up 3:44
04 - some words 4:36
05 - under 5:22
06 - over 3:50
07 - dover beach 4:39

17 - strong flashes of light 3:08
18 - more volts 2:53
19 - mist / rhythm 3:37
20 - seven deadly finns 3:11
21 - the lion sleeps tonight (wimoweh) 2:49

bonus tracks:
22 - #9 dream - here come the warm jets (from the 1992 album let it come down!)
23 - pascal comelade and richard pinhas - here come the warm jets (from the 1999 album oblique sessions II) (listen directly in your browser)

and second of all: the album textures is an extremely rare album that brian eno recorded for the library music company "standard music library" for licensing music in television programs and films. the album was purely intended for "business to business" and was never commercially released for the public.

eleven of these tracks are unpublished elsewhere, ten tracks are actually edits or different versions of pieces published on music for films III, the shutov assembly and neroli. at least four different versions of the cd with different covers and different design are circulating amongst collectors since 1999, but the music and the sequence of tracks is always the same.

02 - the water garden 2:53
03 - shaded water 3:16 (with roger eno)
04 - suspicions 4:14
