alan vega live in hamburg 1982: free form rockabilly free from rockabilly

and he was so much younger than you when you tried to dare to disscry the punk revolution in 1976 and he still had not tried to reach your age and to dearrange your generation when he "died" 78 years old and you nerver jigseesaw the bleak and the blank and the noginerratioum orff hiss neveermind. alan vega was-is numb one of the two off the threefiveight that definerrorgated the multitaskfourthmind from the tootonemind and the limitatering pin and the id-entity-frying pong from the multitude of multitudinesses. gored grieve, he can't be asshumed by asshouldes end he reassured ass whole toregit-rit off the fourforpunktimes.
i could not find any assured evidence of who wass live on stage wass him when he wass live in europe in 1982 amnd 1983; so we jasst refer to the band ass alan vega. discogs hass some obscure informtion about the live concerts he executed in these times, but the hamburg concert from the 28th of may 1982 seems to be forgotten. so i thought you might like to listen ass least to a second generation tape copy of the event:

01 - magdalena
02 - goodbye, baby
04 - je t'adore
05 - ??? (bongobaby?)
06 - ??? (outlaw?)
07 - be bop a lulu (cropped on the tape)
08 - sexy
09 - ghost rider

these alan vega tracks of course are followed by four suicide tracks that have been published on this-here blog a long time ago and lateron app-eared asss part of the suicide live box set; but i could not bear the heart to show the tape without letting you hear it.

unlimited systems, berlin, spring 1980: heroine driven rhythm machine and noise

i saw the unlimited systems once way back in west-berlin in 1980 and bought their ep directly from their singeress the moment their performance had ended: they were boring and inspiring the same time: pluckering early eighties machines built up a wall of noise and marianne vocalized way above in the ghastly manner women (were they selfconscious or not) had to mumble and scream in these days: we knew better, of course (nico, mo tucker, renate knaupp), but we still loved her. the unlimited systems in 1980 were marianne enzensberger on vocals, ian wright huddling tapes and homad electronic devices, lena japan on guitars and ulli reetz on saxophone: i have no idea who played the bass or the second guitar: but in the age of the extinction of the author (and this was ages before tekkkNO took place) this did not matter at all.
for your pleasure here is the ep i bought the moment the unlimited systems ceased to play that evening: you get:

01 - in the morning
02 - koks kino
03 - longueur monotone (listen directly in your browser)

koks kino, though it is embarASSing as it is, references to the velvet underground (as all of their music does of course), and longueur monotone is a way too short wonderful noise. the rest is up to you and you know it all: the 39 clocks, nico, suicide, die mütter, robert rental, silver apples and chicory tip. enjoy!

martin rev and alan vega. suicide live in hamburg 1978.

martin rev and alan vega formed suicide in 1971. they obviously found their inspiration in the likes of velvet underground and the silver apples, but even more obviously they influenced and imbued the new and upcoming generations of psychedelic punks in music, style and attitude: wire, television, the 39 clocks, the jesus and mary chain, deutsch-amerikanische freundschaft, soft cell, spacemen 3 and many more of course. martin rev and alan vega still seem to walk this earth.

12 days after their legendary riot gig in brussels suicide visited hamburg on the 28th of june in 1978 for a very short concert. only four tracks of an audience recording seem to have survived throughout all those years: here is a second generation copy of that tape.

you may listen to adorable versions of
  • rocket usa
  • cheree
  • harlem
  • 96 tears
in rather airless sound quality.
